COG

this gracious human being is a self-proclaimed "COG" ... child of god. the little bit that i learned about him as i spent several days painting his den, stairwell, and hallway, assured me that he is living the good life... and that is one devoted to serving others. he was the founding pastor of a church that, if i am not mistaken, was the first desegregated church in nashville. he has served the underprivileged and unfortunate for (i imagine) fifty years or so by giving of himself. cog - n. a wheel or bar with a series of projections on its edge that transfers motion by engaging with projections on another wheel or bar. i.e.- a piece of a machine that causes other pieces to do their part... i person who inspires others to inspire others

  1. Bill is an amazing fellow. I went to that desegregated church and marched in the rallies for civil rights through Hillsboro Village (protesting their "no hippies" policy) and asked him questions about God that six-year-olds have. He is an amazing soul who told me things like "there's not really sin, just separation from God, all you need to know is that God loves you," when I was concerned about being a good girl. He also came and prayed with me and my mom in her final days and moved us all with his message about love being greater than death at her service. I love this man.
