there is no doubt that our consumerist culture ran off the rails recently, and though it may have had a little crash, it did not total the vehicle. we are in the midst of unparalleled shifts, and there is simply no map or gps to lead us. what has occurred over the last century is an unprecedented upheaval of how human beings exist within their own society. their have been numerous inventions that have changed almost everything. new inventions are burying the best of the old... kodak, blockbuster, etc. what will be next? McDonald's? Ford? Humans?
